Season's Greeting

The EWGA Worcester Chapter would like to extend
Season's Greeting
and Best Wishes for the New Year.

Stopping by Cyprian on a March

Afternoon by Nikki Brown

Whose course this is, I think I know.
They're playing golf where I want to go.
And will not see me stopping here.
To gaze at their course covered with snow.

My Mother's with me and thinks it queer
To come this way this time each year.
Between February and April, a look to take
In hopes that spring is nearly here.

My mother sighs, "for goodness sake.
What difference can all this hoping make?
The snow will melt: snow does not keep.
Now lets go home and bake a cake."

This Course is frozen and still asleep.
But under that snow and not too deep.
The crocus is growing and will soon peep.
The crocus is growing and will soon peep.

Golf Etiquette

What is proper Golf Etiquette?

Proper etiquette includes many things. It can be broken down into 5 categories.

Dress Code
Basic Rules
Respect for the Golf Course
Pace of Play
Respect for the other golfers.

Handicaps

This feature is included in your membership fee.
Why do it?
1. The handicap index is your potential not an average of your scores. Whether you play a tough course or an easy course, you know once your're on the first tee what your potential is for that day. It uses a mathematical formula to figure out what the handicap is on that particular course using the slope. A minimum of 5 scores and a maximum of 20 is required to get started. The handicap index takes the best 10 score differentials of your last 20. Revisions take place on the first and 15th of the month.
2. It levels the playing field.
3. Shows progress and helps to generate goals
4. It allows you to enter competitions such as the Chapter Championship
.
